Does any else like the sound of it?

Sorry, just a random thought. I feel like it describes a large segment of us who are buying gear, not because we are gearheads, but because we are trying to improve our skills and may even be on the cusp of becoming "pro".

Promateur. That's me. Immateur? Ok, that too...

    Are you a promateur, too?

    :)

  2. I'm an immature promateur.

IMO the term Pro doesn't imply the amount of knowledge of photography, just the income.

    Pro vs Enthusiast vs Amateur:
Professional: Someone that makes a majority of their income from photography
Enthusiast: Working toward being a professional, most income is still from other means
Amateur: Little or no income from photography

You caught me. Been here 40 years now. At least they let me out occasionally for good behavior

Yikes! Maybe I should rethink the term...
