Hello,
I was wondering if PSE is good enough for photo editing or would CS6
be a better choice? and if so why?
I know CS6 can do more things than PSE but I am just looking at the
photo editing part.

Thanks

My biggest gripe about PSE is that to use Layers and Layer Adjustments (properly) you have to convert to 8 Bit.

I am a RAW shooter and I like to stay in 16 Bit for as long as possible before changing the Mode.

If you shoot JPEGs - it is a great tool.

IMHO.

keirem, I would seriously consider Lightroom for editing and if you need some extra pixel editing add PSE. Lightroom is the photographers editing tool without the need for a Darkroom.

PSE certainly quite adequate for most photo editing tasks but obviously it is a cut down version using some of the 'Elements' of the full blown Photoshop. I think Adobe may want to entice you to the purchase of the full blown Photoshop with this taster . There is a large differential in price between the two products and unless you need the added functionality or you do not worry about cost then PSE may serve you well.

As Dave said one limiting factor (for me!) is the limited 16 bit support of PSE. Additionally ACR has been hobbled in PSE which omits quite a few of the tools available in CS6 and of course LR.

I think like Geoff that you should consider LR which is a very good image editing tool and of course a very strong asset manager. You may find that this is the only tool you need for the vast majority of your work

Thanks for your replies, I think I will go with the your suggestions of LR + PSE. It should
be more than adequate.

Thanks again

It's LightRoom and PSE for me, and PSE get's used only for extensive dust-removal of old scanned photographs and such. LightRoom is so much easier to use...

When I switched to Lightroom my editing time was cut by 3/4!

I have both and can say if you are an artistic photographer nothing replaces Photoshop, but LightRoom is a powerfull photo application and at the price is a true "dollar/value" winner.
