I'm thinking about getting the Bogen 486RC2 ballhead, but I have a question about them. Is there a bulls eye level on the ballhead somewhere or is there a way to know its level or should I get a hot shoe level?
  2. I don't know about the Manfrotto however my RRS does have a bullsye level in it and my observations are that it can sometimes be hard to see due to being obscured by the body etc. Even when I can see it I may only want to level against the horizon while tilting up or down and a bullseye isn't well suited for that. There will definitely be a hot shoe level(s) in my future just for those reasons.

    No level on the 486RC2...

I have one, and even if it did have a level, I wouldn't use it.

A hot-shoe level is the ONLY way to go.

Wow. Great question. I didn't even consider this while shopping for a tripod and I was looking at the ballheads.
  5. if you get a kirk clamp, that should have it, but i never used it.
