How do you carry this lens around ? In its own original case or in a Backpack or how ?
I need a bag which can take a D2X+17-55, the 300/2.8VR, one other lens probably the 180/2.8 or the 200/4 and a Sb 800. I have a Billingham 445 and a Tamrac 5263 (wheeler) and a Tamrac Velocity 9. All these bags are too small to carry the above equipment. Can some actual users of the 300/2.8VR share their experience and suggest a bag, preferably a BackPack.

I carry such lenses, with camera, locked to the tripod head, and carry the tripod over my shoulder. It helps having a light-weight tripod, though :)  (I'm using Sachtler and they weigh much less than traditional tripods)

    Riki,

I carry my stuff, including the 300 2.8, the 70-200VR, and the 17-35, as well as the D2H and lots of accessories in a Lowepro Phototrekker. Once I get to the shooting site, I do as Bjorn, and carry the cam and lens on my Gitzo 1325 CF tripod.
