I have a quesion for any expert out there. I just received a D300 camera from a friend, payment for a favor/work i did. When I took a shot, the image count read 1471. However, when I look at the exif data, it read 221 Total Shutters.

I kow that my own D300 started at image 1001. Based on that logic, I can validate the first 1000 as a simple starting point however, why is there a difference between the 471 and 221. Where did 250 images go?

just something peculiar.

thanks

I'm assuming that you mean the file names that are generated by the camera when you refer to image shot count.

This issue can arise if you're mixing and matching memory cards.

This could be either because he was mixing and matching some cards or because you were doing that.

For example, let's say you're using a card that you used with your other D300 for which the last image shot got file name number 1470. If you use this card with your new D300 from your friend, the camera can register 1471 for the next image (depending on the set up of the camera).
