Quicky flash question

Discussion in 'General flash photography, lighting, and technique' started by critterracing, Sep 28, 2008.

  1. hi everyone
where i shoot its always in the shade and on over cast days im shooting my d80 at 1600iso. not with the greatest results..

is there a flash that will work at 500 to say 1250 shutter speed. im shooting fast moving rc cars and i need all the help i can get.

    thanks for your time

  2. If your camera has an FP mode in the flash setup menu, then an sb600 or 800 should do. This is high speed sync, but you loose some distance in this mode.
  3. you shouldn't need flash to be that fast, just put the camera at it's max sync (non-fp mode) and shoot, if you underexpose the ambient then the short flash duration works very well to freeze movement
  4. Have a look at my post here https://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=188192
    It's not another flash you need , but rather a D40/50 or 70 .
