Racoon scared off by Crows

Discussion in 'Other Animals' started by PEPPER PETE, May 22, 2007.

  1. I was sitting in the patio drinking a glass of wine, just relaxing and all of a sudden about 7 or 8 Crows started making a huge rucus. I wasn't sure what started them off but after about two minutes of hearing them chatter I saw why they were cawing. A big Raccoon was the reason and it was in my back yard below the crows nesting tree. I had my camera out there with me and this is what I got.

  2. Enjoyed the shots... made me think of a burglar out working a second story job.

    Cool, good catch
  4. I think they are every where but rare to get a good shot. nice one!!!
  5. They love all kinds of eggs and young. Hopefully the crows ganged up enough to rattle his cage but I doubt it. It looks determined to get a meal.
  6. Thanks Gary, I was sure surprised to see him. I haven't seen one in my area in about 6 or 7 years.

Thanks Gale. The wine was cool also.

Thanks Gary, It was one of those rare moments.

Thanks for the reply Lou, The Crows sure did make racket
trying to get rid of him. I was sure wondering what it was all about until I saw him slinking around.
  7. WOW! Been a long time since a saw a pic of a raccoon! My daughter especially likes them - she thinks he looks like a regular bandit! LOL!
  8. Hi Dianne, thanks for comment, your daughter is right he does look like a bandit. I sure don't see many around. Last one I saw was about 7 years ago.

Be careful around him. We have lots, and they can get quite irritated about being pushed around.

Quick work with that camera. Nice "Urban Wildlife" series.

If you don't see many, maybe the local paper would be interest in your story, you got the images to show!
  12. Thank you Torben, the first pic. he sure was looking at me.
Thank you Andy. I had to hurry to be able to get the pics. before he was gone. I was sure glad I had my camera out in the patio with me.
