These radio controlled gliders were being flown off the cliffs just a mile from my house. These images were not meant to be great, just recording the event.

I used to fly models myself and was always facinated by the flying wing.

A designer came up with an experimental flying wing for the military the first time in the 50's. I forget the guy's name. They used lots of his data for the B2.

I remember that time well Patrick as the flying wing was developed. The small gliders I have shown really require very little up draft to stay aloft. The wind was barely perceptable and they were flying these gliders back and forth off the cliff. I kept expecting one to lose its lift and head down into the valley but they never did.

modern extreme designs require computer input as no human is fast enough. Many aircraft are aerodynamically unstable and require constant small inputs. The pilot uses control input to point the A/C and the computer keeps it on course. This is why the first flying wings were not successful.
