Finally after three years I bought the Nikon D850. I am not a person that needs to buy a camera every time a new one comes out The last time I bought a camera was the D3s which I still have. I have been keeping an eye ton the camera to see if it is a good one and every review I read was good reviews and it is a well loved camera by everyone that has it. I also rented one for my trip to Aruba about 2 years or so ago for the week to see if I liked it and I loved it but still waited and watching until I finally decided it's time to get one.

Which leads to my question about the firmware. The camera is new from Adorama but I see that the camera is lower by a 1000.00 from Willoughby's and thought about returning it to Adorama to save 1000.00 but I don't know much about that company so I am going to keep it and not fool with sending it back to Adorama but the firmware was not updated and I read on here where an owner updated Their D850 and it cause problems for his camera. Does anyone here know if Nikon improved the firmware before I load the update on my camera and have those same issues?

Thank you and appreciated.

I have updated the firmware on every Nikon digital I have owned, and a lens or 2, and have never had any problem. Nikon gives you clear instructions for checking the firmware in your camera and how to update it.

Here is Nikon's firmware page:

PS: Willoughby's is a good place to stay AWAY from: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.willoughbys.com

besides, it is NOT an authorized Nikon dealer: https://cdn-6.nikon-cdn.com/where-to-buy/nikon_img_auth_dealers.pdf

Thank you I appreciate letting me know.
I’m going to keep this D850 since Adorama says it is a US model. Now I feel safe.

Thank you. I am still looking for a memory card. I never realized just how expensive those XQD's are. The used ones on ebay are expensive. The cards are more expensive than the card reader.
I would never buy a used memory card. Just too many potential issues. Plus, there are a lot of fake cards floating out there. It's just too risky.

You bought a $3000 camera. The best advice is to save up and buy the $200 memory card you want from a reputable dealer.
