My wife has a new monitor and I calibrated it. I was puzzled to see that it looked brighter and quite different to my calibrated NEC monitor, which I use for photo editing.

I realised I had not calibrated the NEC for a long time, over a year. I recalibrated and found that it had dimmed a lot. The brightness had dropped from 120 to about 95. Presumably caused by aging of the backlights. After calibration it looks like new again.

The lesson I learned is to recalibrate more often. With the Colormunki Photo I use it only takes about five minutes for each monitor.

A good lesson for all of us. I recalibrate every 90 days....the longest time span I can set for my NEC monitor. I don't notice any change from point to point, but I'm sure that a very slight change is being made to keep the monitor constant.
