Normally you think of landscape shots with GNP - Goose Island, for example.
However, there are many coyotes...

and bears...

and moose...

which make the trip a photographer's dream.
Going in August - anyone else?

I've wanted to go there for some time. My wife and I went to Banff National Park last year and enjoyed some nice wildlife (although we didn't see any bears). I might have to go up to Glacier one of these years. Great photos!

I went through there in early May. The road through the park wasn't open yet, so my friend and I went up to Banff instead. Best decision we could have made.

Any word on when the road will open?
Traffic there's tough even when there are two lanes.
We'll be hiking mainly but we'll need to cross Logan Pass a few times during the week.
Any animals pix from Banff?

A lot better than a month ago but still not completely open. I would guess that it'll be open in August.

No animal photos, all we saw were elk in the dark, and I'm more of a landscape person anyhow.

Some shots from Banff when I was there last year. They were not the greatest as my glass was far from good when I was there...that just means I have to go back now.

Mostly deer and elk. Maybe next time we'll see something else...I hear Jasper National park is the place to see wildlife.

Thanks for the comments!
GNP has turned into an annual event for my brother and I. Exercise, great views, photo ops, good food...
Maybe we'll see you there.

Wonderful images..... the coyote and the moose shots are my favourite. Hard to get a good moose shot with full antlers and no weeds hanging from them! A buddy of mine shoots moose in Algonquin all year long and it's not easy getting a clear shot like yours!
That last shot showing the bull elk with his harem is wonderful!

Here's a link to up to date info on the roads in Glacier . This past fall, Glacier received 11 inches of rain in one day, and the result of that that much rain is ,
flooding .
The Going to the Sun road was heavily damaged on both the west and the east
sides. On the east side, there were portions of the two lane road that were totally wiped away , there was just mountain side , no road bed left.
On tonights news (6-7-07) , the newscaster was informing listeners, that it
just might be awhile before the east side road is repaired and open for travel.

Hope this Helps , Stephen
