Critique Red Garage Door (70-200 FL)

Back in 2012, this garage door attracted my attention while I was driving through Alamogordo, New Mexico. Last month, I drove by the same door again. Seven years ago the door was weathered. Now, it is even more weathered!

I wonder why the wood is on the diagonal.

It would be fun to also see the photo you made in 2012.
Maybe the architect wanted to add some style to the door? :)

Here's the one from 2012...looks like I had a heavier hand last time with the saturation. But, the door doesn't appear as splintered back then:

hi Mike,

The wood is on the diagonal to give stability in both the horizontal and vertical directions. they did this in the old days to give the wall stability; now a days they just nail up 4x8 sheets of plywood and the earthquake stability is done...
