Honeycreeper...Cubs...whatever. Killer image and a very unique bird. Any Resplendants yet?
Thanks
We head to Savegre Wednesday, tomorrow is Manuel Antonio. Shot frogs and pygmy owls tonight. This country is amazing

This image has so many good qualities, sharp, color cool bird background etc but the best thing is the pose and composition, makes for a superb image.
Thanks Andreas
And no flash
You need to flash almost everything here unless you have a body that can handle very high iso
The D5 or 1dx 2 really help here
Our guide shoots a D500 sigma 150-600C with a BB and gets great results

OK, now you're just showing off. Beautiful bird and that shot is just crazy good. Well done.

TG for the D5. Under the canopy of Costa Rica you either flash with a better Beamer or you crank up the iso. I was shooting a Pygmy Owl early this morning at iso 8k and no one believed me, they were all flashing the poor bird
