Week 6 of my odonata a week project.

It looks like I'll need to work on my lighting a little. Need to get it to lift the shadows underneath just a tad, although I do like the "dramatic" lighting on this one. Really happy with this as the saddlebags species are more of the skittish ones and I haven't been able to get this close before.

Hi defante

was the dragonfly on the front lens or just inside your lens?

How do you get that near?

It's a wonderful picture.

Thank you for sharing

Thank you all for the comments! My lens hood was almost touching the compound eyes. DOF gets razor thin when I get this close. There was also a slight breeze so getting enough pics for a focus stack was too difficult.

To get this close I usually will go out in the early morning. This one was in the afternoon and I just got lucky and found one that was resting.

Great shot! I like the light in this one, and given the proximity its great. Lighting is wearing me out right now, but I'm closing in on it.

Thank you! Yea when I got into macro, I quickly found out that lighting was an ever evolving thing.
