    That is a beautiful shot of the hawk. We have alot of them here. I live next to a hay field. They are so beautiful

    Thanks for all the nice comments! This is a photo that just happened to present itself unexpectedly. I was shooting a track meet at a local high school and as I was finishing up, I saw this hawk land in a tree right near the pole vault area. Good example of being in the right spot at the right time. I feel very fortunate to have been able to get this shot.
     
  8. This is indeed a great opportunity and shot. Is there much cropping done? The EXIF says 200mm and you normally need some 500+ to shoot these birds.

    There is only about a 20% crop. I was amazed at how close I was able to approach. I think its a female and was either buiding nest or guarding it.
