requesting handheld non flash pictures

My last two posts were handheld without flash (using Nikon 105mm).

Don't have any handy but they are quite doable with the 90

 

Took this one yesterday with a Tamron 90mm, the older type that's only 1:2.
This is nearly 100% crop, and the really shallow DOF is a result of the hand held flashless approach... (f/3.5 to get fast enough shutter)

You can use the on board flash to get the shutter speed up for hand holding. It works better if you diffuse the flash as else the lens casts a shadow on the bottom of the pic at 1:1. This is a diffuser I made from a plastic milk bottle and use on my Tamron 90mm macro.
