reverse neutral density filter yea or ney

  1. So planning on doing a lot of sunset and sunrise photos on an upcoming trip and while browsing the interweb came across these filters.
    seems incredibly high priced compared to standard filters.

    Are they worth it? have you used one?

    These have a very specific use where you need to have the darkest area of the filter on the brightest part of the scene, which is usually the horizon. You can think of sunsets where the sun is still in the picture on the horizon, lit up clouds. It certainly has a place but you would need to have a specific scene in mind for it.
     
  3. I've used on a few few times (borrowed from the guy I was shooting with) and it was indispensable and specialized. For what it is designed for it works very well, but it has limited application.
