Ringling Bros.and Barnum & Bailey Circus brought out Suzie the Elephant the other day to give it a bit of a bath.

Just thought I'd mention that the publicity stunt backfired big time when the press got a hold of the story and questioned why the NYFD expended man hours and effort to aid Ringling Bros pump up the story.

People also questioned the wisdom of leaving the Coney Island section of NYC vulnerable; had an actual emergency occurred, the firefighters were not in their house ready to instantly respond to a 911 call. NYFD brass ended up with egg on their faces causing the commissioner to issue a public apology for misapplication of resources.

Nevertheless - very cool photo op indeed, but I would not look forward to attending the event next year. Not gonna be a "next year".

I've seen some terrible mistreatment of these gentle giants in the past few months in some recent documentaries but these pics made me feel good. They do certainly enjoy water and a bath. Nice to see the fireman helping them out in that area. Great captures.
