Great scene, Merlin!
Really like the lines and textures - rock face, sand, water.

Thanks very much, Bart! What you see as sand is actually thick mud. Due to a steep dropoff, when I landed for lunch I sunk in thigh-high! Although it made for many laughs when reminiscing afterwards, it was kind of hairy, as I could not let go of either the boat or my paddle in order to extricate myself, and the mud kept sucking my feet down!

Yes, I was fortunate, although with the adrenalin kick-in I was on autopilot. Best I can recall is that I was able to use the leverage of the boat on one side and paddle blade shoved into harder mud on the other to slowly withdraw my legs one at a time, raising them slowly through the sticky stuff in alternating fashion.

The mudbank in the foreground is where I landed.

Thanks, Rob! Mostly I go with my partner, but this was a solo trip. It is always a calculated risk and I am as prepared for emergencies as possible, but there is no one to bail me out so far up the river.

That's why it is called an adventure!
