I want to run this by all you here before I push the "buy now button".

I am considering getting a B87-B (plus adapters) here are my questions:

1.Will there be enough clearance with the Wimberley AP-553 foot on a 200-400 to fit the bracket?

    2. Here is the setup I have in mind, do you see anything wrong here??

    200-400VR with AP-553 replacement feet
SU-800 (on camera's hot shoe) no need for SC-29
    RRS B87-B
RRS FA-CS2 hot shoe adapter for SB-800 on B87-B
    SB-800 (on B87-B)
    Better Beamer
    Sidekick with AK-100 plate
    RRS BH-55
    Gitzo GT3530LSV

    Thank you guys! :Smart:

Here is a shot of my setup, very similar to your proposed purchase.

    You see:

B-87 (I recently upgraded to the B-87B which is lighter and better built)
Gitzo 1325 (I sold it and replaced with G-3530LSV 2 weeks ago)
    Gitzo 1321 leveling base
Sidekick (I sold it 2 weeks ago and changed to full Wimberley)
    Wimberley foot AP-553
No Better Beamer used this day - I own one and generally find it more cumbersome than practical)
    FA-EX1 Flash extender
    SC-28 Flash cord
    Op/Tech leg wraps
A sweet wife to carry it all - (JUST KIDDING!!!) :377:

    In answer to your questions:

RRS B-87B is perfect with the 200-400VR as you see in my photo

I also recommend FA-EX1 flash extender shown in photo

This is a phenomenal flash bracket. It is as impressive as the BH-55LR.

I also recommend the full Wimberley gimbal WH200 over the Sidekick + ballhead. I was blown away by the difference.

Finally, I have not found the 1321 leveling base as useful with the Wimberley gimbal as I did with my setup as shown in the photo; I believe I'll sell it.

    Enjoy your killer flash bracket!

    Hi John:

Thanks for the confirmation. My main concern is that by having a AP-553 replacement foot on my lens I wont have enough clearance to fit the bracket between the foot and lens. I tried calling RRS but the were having computers problems.

I have been considering going with the full WH for some time now, I will give the sidekick one last try and see how it goes. There goes more $$$, it never ends:Confused: !!!!
