Since the COVID19 pandemic, my local sports shooting has come to a standstill.

I've been lucky and still can get out and take pictures, but nothing that "needed" the power of the D500...so I've been shooting with the Df, Fuji and Olympus more.
Well, today I decided to stop neglecting the D500. I mounted the 70-300 AF-P FX lens and went for a 5 mile hike through a local park.

Just sharing because I have not really posted here for a while.

I hear ya. I went from shooting two to three AHL games a week to zero since March 11th. I, too, have been putting my D500 to work photographing backyard wildlife. For these, I rented a Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 VR lens which I was planning on doing for Spring High School field sports. Maybe next year.

very nice bird shots! Thanks for sharing them here.

Wonderful framing in the first photo. I wonder what took a bight out of the chipmunk's ear.

not sure, but that ‘monk has a bit of a green tinge to him because he kept going through the algae water.
My best guess is some kind of hawk or owl. We have red tail, Cooper’s hawks and bard owls a plenty.

Nice leisurely hike!

I'm thinking of selling my DSLR equipment and just stay mirrorless. All my event gigs are pretty much cancelled for the next couple months (I prefer DSLRs for those gigs). I hate for gear to just sit, but then it's a PITA to re-buy equipment, if and when things get back to semi-normalcy.

Well, if this goes on for much longer, I might need to fold the photo business. Without the business, I’ve no need , really, for the DSLRs at that point.
Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that.

Forcing some more usage within the COVID era.

I got these ancillary shots while hiking to find an american bald eagles nest.
