Per NewBert's request....

Here are three images that I processed exclusively in Capture NX with the Color Efex Pro 2.0 add-in. I did not use any color control points. Only some of the native NX controls in addition to NIK.

First up, a silhouette without the filters applied:

Here it is with the 'Pop Art' and 'Graduated Orange' filters:

Here is one of my cat taken from outside:

Same image, with 'Classic soft focus' and (partial opacity) 'Midnight' filters applied:

Finally, a landscape image from Pecos NM:

Same image with 'Brillance/Warmth', 'Graduated Orange', and 'Polarization' filters:

I would be interested to hear other opinions. Obviously, I like the effects.

Hmmm - I am not seeing my images. I think I set the permissions correctly in SmugMug. Am I allowed to post pics here? Anyone?

These look great!! I'm wanting to learn Capture NX since it is designed for my cameras. Can you recommend a book, I didn't know you could this with that software.

Tom, great demonstration.
Your popart filter example, however, doesn't look quite right to me.
Are you sure you used that with the one you have labeled "graduated orange?
Mine with the popart filter come out very differently.

Have you had a chance to look at the new Color Efex Pro 3.0?

There are videos demonstrating them on the nik website.

Hi Virginia,

Yes - I used Pop Art and Grad Orange together. I probably used different setting than you on it. It has a wide variety of effects.

Version 3.0 is not out yet for NX so I have not looked at it. 3.0 only works with PhotoShop / PaintShop now.

Neither - I still have the demo. But I think I will purchae the middle version. The extra $100 only gets me a few filters that I care about, and I can live without them for that $.

Tom those are great. I had been thinking about getting this. Which one did you get the complete or the middle one?

I find myself using one or more filers on about 50% of my images.
YMMV!

Tom,

Many thanks for posting these. They look great!

Do you find that you use the filters on most of your shots or just ones that you feel need some "extra" tweaking over the usual NX adjustments?
