I am new to Nikon and the Cafe so I dont know if this has been tried here before.

Over at teh Canon forums we had "Archive threads" for lens samples. Some one would start a thread about one lens and anyone who wanted could add sample images and comments to it. This gives people something to use to help answer questions about a lens instead of new threads popping up every couple of weeks about the same lens.

I put the <Samples> in front of this thread title so that if people here like the idea, anyone starting a thread about a lens can do the same, then it makes it easier to find sample threads.

Since the Tamron 70-200 just became available and a few of us have it, and others have questions, I figured Iwould use this lens for the first <Samples> thread.

So post 'em if ya got 'em.

    All shot on a D700.

Its almost impossible to tell sharpness at these image sizes.

I posted them larger, but I plan to put some 100% crops up later.

Sharpness looks good to me. I like the look of the narrow depth of field. Do you miss the reach of the long end yet?

If you mean because of the FX sensor? No, not an issue for me.

Cheers for the shot wilvoeka, nice and sharp centre crop even though its supposed to be the weakness of the lens (according to DPReview...) How do you rate the AF performance?

I recently picked up a copy of the lens, and posted a thread here:
    https://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=180244

    A few shots so far:

    100788118.

    100788121.

    100812485.

    100812479.

I have a 30 day return window, and will be using it to see how the lens handles under more demanding AF situations. The focus is not as fast as my Nikon 17-55, but it is accurate. So far the image quality seems very good, and color and contrast also appear excellent.
