The annual sand hill cranes have started their migration through the preserve. They perhaps are numbering about 4,000 at the moment and will peak at about 14,000 around the second week of December. Marvelous site to behold and we never tire of watching them each year. Taken with D500 on 500mmFL or D7500 on 300mmPF. Enjoy.............
Flock of about 30+ coming in........

  6. they can be a noisy but I love to see them in migration. Number 5 and the last image are my choices, though all are well done.

Nice set to give a sense of the activity and good looks at the birds. Prehistoric looking and sounding critters.

Hey fellow photographers............thank you all for your encouraging and kind comments. It is quite a site to behold and experience. Was up there a second time yesterday to enjoy. Only thing I didn't enjoy was the 34 degree temperature !!!
