I might have something setup wrong but I can't figure it out. When I use my flash it will pre fire 3 times and then fire once.

I need some help with this one. Nikon D300s & SB-600

Thanks

If you have red eye reduction set in the sync mode (D300S page 175)
you will see one flash for red eye, followed by a one second delay for red eye,
and then the shutter opens and you see the final flash trigger.
Red eye reduction is a good thing to turn off. This is easy to get on by mistake by turning wrong wheel when fooling with flash compensation. The flash sync symbol in top LCD normally should be "blank".

If also you have rear curtain sync set (same page),
and a slow shutter speed set,
then you will be able to see the actual preflash just before the shutter opens,
and the final flash at the end of the slow shutter (total of three, including red eye a second before).

I will play with this later. I'll let you kn he outcome.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
