Hey Guys,

I was shooting a wedding this weekend and using my SB800 and was having issues w/ it misfiring. In TTL mode, approx 1 of every 5 shots would be correctly exposed. Otherwise it would be very, very underexposed. I tried swapping over to Manual and still the flash wasn't consistently dumping the correct power. I swapped over to my SB600 and it worked fine. Anyone ever have similar issues w/ their SB800?

I have not had any issues with either of mine as described. The first thing I would check is the batteries. Then clean the contacts with eraser or preferred method. If all else fails, send it in for repair.

Best of luck!

Yeah, having auto-bracketing set would be my main suspect. Can't count how many times I'd set it for taking bracketed shots for HDR and then forgotten I'd done it the next time I took the camera out. If it really is one shot out of five, perhaps you have it set to bracket five shots.

Oh, wait -- you said you changed flashes and the problem went away. Hmmm ... batteries would be the next suspect, then.
