It seems like these are the two most popular companies for getting film scanned. I have been procrastinating with this, but I need to get my old film negatives scanned. I never shot slides, so I would only be looking at getting 35mm film strips scanned.

Does anyone on the cafe have experience using either of these companies? If so, please share your opinion of them.

I used Scan Cafe for all of my scanning. About 2000 slides. Flawless service. I gave them very specific written instructions included with each box of slides, such as not to do any sharpening (because I ordered JPEGs) and not to crop where the scanner scans the slide mount. They precisely followed all of my instructions every time. I recommend them to anyone who asks.

Get everything ready. Wait for a 40% flash sale (if you're not in a rush) and go for it.

I sent the slides to them using about five orders. That's because if something happened beyond their control, such as the truck catching on fire or the ship going down, I would lose only about 20% of my slides. They returned every single slide.

Over those multiple orders, two files on two separate occasions that they sent to me had become corrupted. Both times they made a replacement file available for download within 24 hours of when I sent them an email explaining the issue. That was easy for them to do because they keep the files on their server for a reasonable period of time.
