  2. Great series. #3 is my favorite of the bunch. I always love your rowing sets. Thanks for posting.

  3. Nicely done. Thanks for taking the time and effort to get low. It makes the images much stronger.
I guess my question would be- why black and white. I love monochrome images, and much of my work is black and white. But it is actually a decision- there is a reason to get rid of the color. Often it is the strength of the graphic, the angles and shapes. Sometimes it is for grit- the dirty contrasted look of football. Lots of reasons, but it is a decision. I was curious why you choose black and white for these, and what the color versions look like.
Either way, strong work. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Cheers Gary, I tend to shoot B&W via picture controls in camera, mainly because I like it. Also, on a tidal stretch of river like this one, the river and much of the background tend to be an ugly muddy brown which looks better (to me at least) in mono :D

  5. A marvellous b&w series, Al!
    Great work!
I never ceases to amaze me how diverse the expressions and attitudes of the rowers are :)
After all, they are basically all participating in the same exercise.

  6. Thanks Bart :D

I suppose they have to let their individuality out somehow ;)

  7. Always a good idea :)
