SD card speed.

I have a Sandisk Extreme III and I received a rebate for it in the way of a $30 Visa Debit card. It's a real PITA to use the card online (which is how I do most of my shopping) because you have to find something that costs $30.

Anyway, I could use another SD card and I found an 8 gig Class 6 card for 29.95.

The Sandisk Extreme III is a Class 6 card which from what I understand rates its random access speed (6mbs or greater) and it is also rated for something like 20mbs sequential write. The sequential write is what we need for still camera use.

So the question is, is the sequential write speed a fallout of the Class 6 or might this third party Class 6 card be a slug in the sequential write department?

Bill,

I don't think the D40 can transfer any faster than 60x, regardless of card speed.

Having loads of horsepower doesn't do you any good if you can't stick it to the pavement.
