I was trying to figure out why I like this, and I think it's the sense of being a part of the picture, rather than apart from it. The viewpoint and composition are such that you're put in the photographer's shoes very strongly, I think.
interesting, when i'm taking a photo, i don't think i'm thinking about being in the 'shoes', or what the viewpoint of the viewer will be. i'll think about this more.
