Although not generally a flower-shooter, I took some sample shots this morning of a tulip in our yard. Then tried a little selective color using Capture NX. I think to really do this right, it might be helpful to have some sort of pen enabled mouse or a Tablet PC ... I had a tough time just using the mouse.

But, on the whole, I think this came out well. It's not something I'd do often, but it's nice to know it's an option.

Gale

I first converted the image to B&W through the FILTERS dialog.
Then, used the brush tool and the "minus" tab (-)
Finally used that brush to "erase" the B&W and restore the color.

There's a bit more info & a screen shot here as I just learned this myself from another board member (thanks Sharon!!).

Thanks for the suggestion on the pen ... I'll look into it. Even though it's easier to do the "brushing" if you enlarge the image, the mouse still isn't the easiest thing to paint with!! (Perhaps my 56 year old hands are part of the problem ...)

Cheers!!

Thank You
I know how to do it if PS, but was unaware how you could do it in NX

I love my pen

Sure took time to get used to though.
So the best thing to do is force yourself to use the pen only for two days and you got it made:>)))
Tell someone to hide your mouse.

Then it will feel like a brick...lolol
