Seneca Rocks Moon

Here are some pics of Seneca Rocks, WV, a popular rock climbing formation in the eastern part of the state. The first pic was taken last year (the flowering trees received some storm damage from Sandy and they didn't look very good this year) with a 24-70mm.

The 2nd pic was taken yesterday with the 70-200mm. The moon was rising over the rocks and some climbers were taking a break before coming back down.

The 3rd pic is a crop of the 2nd. I was wishing I had a 80-400mm!

It is a pity that the flowering trees were damaged, as that first image is very pretty with them, but the pictures of the rock face are most impressive to me - I like the moon above the vertical fault line (whatever it is called), and being able to see how the pine trees are growing out of the rock is pretty remarkable.

I often wonder about using telephoto for landscape. good image on the second.
