The Serengeti is over 12,000 square miles!!!! The word "Serengeti" is from the Maasai language and means "endless plains". During the spring migration, there are over 2 million wildebeests, 200,00 zebras and countless antelope being accompanied by predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. There are also giraffes, hippos, and numerous other animals, plus numerous birds.

Here are a few landscape images....

#1 That dark line from left to right near the horizon is wildebeests.....!

Appreciate it, Louie! You would LOVE a trip to Africa!
Very nice Karen. I've never been so thanks for sharing.

The XQD cards work out ok?
Hi! Thanks for the comments! And yes, the XQDs worked just fine! Thanks, again!
wow, those are incredible
Appreciate it, Randy!
I've never seen so many animals at one time. Absolutely amazing!
Hi, Mike! Apparently the migration this year was even bigger than usual!
AMAZING! So natural and serene.

Amazing what CGI/PhotoShop can do :ROFLMAO: :D
Thanks, Nick!
Really a nice set of "wildscapes", Karen. Couldn't pick a favorite. Each has appeal for different reasons. Well seen and captured.
I don't take many landscapes, and the Serengeti is so vast, it seemed impossible to create an image to convey the vastness and the hundreds of thousands of animals! But I'm glad I tried! LOL!
I would love to visit that place!
As soon as I saw the images a song popped into my head :)
Thanks, Desmond!
I love the wide-open spaces. And of course the animal herds are most impressive.

I might try cropping out a little of the foreground in #2.
Hi, Jim! Good suggestion on the crop. I used a 9/16 crop and didn't want to lose anything on the sides. But I could certainly reduce the foreground and have a simply unusual aspect ratio.
What an amazing multitude of animals, well captured!
Thanks so much!
