Short sandhill crane video

Almost from the moment they were born the two babies would playfully fight with one another. I think it was a combination of relating to the outside word and trying to show dominance. It was cute to watch and photograph (Stills) but eventually I thought a video might capture it better.

Nice Allan. I've witnessed many other chicks, eagles, osprey and other where one or more of the chicks will be pushed out of the nest to their death. I think the chick interactions are dead serious business and doesn't always end good for one of them.

This ended well. After the second day, the chicks were led off the nest by the parents. They spend the day walkig around. The chicks do not seem to fight after that first day (based on seeing 3 nests over the years.)
