"SHOW" us your focus problems (pics), Vernon-omete

Discussion in 'Nikon DX DSLR Forum' started by Vernon t, May 11, 2005.

  1. My screw shots. D2X. Various lenses. Vernon-ometer test on my lovely wife's paper cutter.
    Fortunately I'm not screwed.
    This thing's bullseye on.
All 100% crop on the pbase site. N-cafe sizes down
All lenses wide oped to minimize DOF.
The screw's laid at the "7".
Focus zone centered on the screw tip.
I did get some variability in both directions with the 85mm.1.4 when using outer lateral focus points...but hey, get real...DOF's in mm's anyway at f1.4. What other camera stands up to that.
The most perfect razor-on-sharpness seems to be the 300f4 from across the room! Love the lens more and more.

  2. Well, ok, this one backfocused...by about 625 microns!

  3. Here is how mine focused AFTER Nikon Torrance "adusted" it. It was actually better before that, but still off.

I miss it too. :(  Misfocused as it was.

  4. Here's mine. I guess it's ok, but so far I have yet to see a truly sharp image come out of my D2x.

I'm really not sure if I have a problem or not :?:
  5. Here is mine. Looks good to me.
