Been testing the sharpness of my new Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM
lens... This shot was through my window (which has wavey glass)... Focus was
on the "Ford" emblem on the grill of the white Pickup...

Nikon D7k / Sigma 17-70 @ 70mm / f9 / 1/320 / ISO 200 / 0 EV (Exif intact)

Very dull, dim, overcast day... I've done no PP what so ever except to resample
(compress the jpeg file) for upload to my gallery...

You can click the link below for the full size (resampled) image...

I think it's a nice sharp lens, what do you think...?

Please add your images/impressions as well...

Looks good, thanks for responding, Chris...!

I'm getting frustrated waiting for the good weather to finally get here so I can
get out and give this lens a proper workout...

Anyone else with some samples using this lens...?

An indoor shot that some Canadian sports fans might recognize. Handheld, ISO 2000, 1/500, f6.3, 17mm:

Yeah, that be curling. My daughter got hooked on that during the Winter Olympics!

I had the previous version, 2.4-4.5 non-OS, I loved it. a very nice all-round lens. Hope I get to like my 16-85 as much.

Thanks for your input, Russ...

I heard that the previous version was just a tad bit sharper but I really like the
OS on this one... Seems to work real well...

Weather is still bad but here's a shot I just took using just my desk
lamp (40 watt incandescent) for a light source...

No PP what so ever...

Image was hand held and Exif is intact...

Man I wish the good weather would get here so I can take some shots of something
besides coffee cups on my desk...!

Nice one, Omar...!

That really gives atmosphere and scale to the event...

What sport is that...?

(Is it "Curling"...?)

Yes, the "sport" of curling. I found it almost impossible to convey the meaning of the action when I tried closeup shots. Oh well.

This one shows well enough for those of us who understand the game. Again, ISO 2000. For these web shots, that is a very comfortable ISO (oops, I used the 70-300VR for this shot):

I had the old version of that lens, 17-70 F/2.8-4.5 without OS. It was on my D300 80% of the time. My understanding is that the new version is even better.

A selection from me...

Most are crops and I'm still learning with this lens but I think I'm getting
there...

He was pretty frisky and I didn't want him to dry out before I could release him
out in the wet grass so these were rushed under not so good fluorescent lights...

I think they came out OK considering...
