Some here have mentioned that I should consider using a flash for my indoor candid photography of friends and family. So I have started to think about buying a flash. What are your thoughts of these two flashes or are there any others that you may recommend? Thanks.

I think the build quality is better on the Nikon. I would spend a bit more and get the SB-800 (±$309) but if that's out of your budget, the Sigma will have features similar to the SB-800 while costing closer to the SB-600. A friend of mine uses twp Promaster flashes with his KM7D, and has had no problems with them. They are also similar to the SB-800 with the addition of a fill flash on the front.
