Silent and Alone

Discussion in 'Retouching and Post Processing' started by 57corvette, Aug 20, 2008.

  1. I photographed this in San Simeon, but unsure if it was a chapel or perhaps a school house. It was fenced off and you couldn't get close to it. Maybe someone here knows ...

Very kool. Of course I have no idea what it is. I hated school and if I walk into a church I get super warm. Ha!

Good job. Mind sharing what you did to get that effect?
  11. Rich, Loki,

Thanks for looking and your comments. I have learned that this is a one room school house .......

I like the dramatic effect... Looks like the old school houses around here.
  14. Definitely dramatic, Bob.
Only thing I'd suggest is a slightly different crop.
I think this could stronger if the subject wasn't quite so centered.

  17. Debbie, Northwood,

Thank you both for looking and your comments ...... much appreciated.

Thanks for your input ........ I was going to crop some of the bottom off, but decided I liked the contrast of the bottom flowers and the upper part. I have a difficult time deciding what should go and what should stay ..... will try harder next time.

Thanks for looking .... here is the original:

  20. On the history... a quick Google search of 'San Simeon schoolhouse' and this was #2 in the list:

    San Simeon, California...

This cute little schoolhouse was built for the village that William Randolph Hearst, April 29, 1863 - August 14, 1951, established for the servants, maids and workers of Hearst Castle...
