that's nice. I need one of these in the future but I'm thinking something with rails will work better for me since I'm worried about shake.

I've had a look at the different rails as well - I wouldn't mind making one that connects up with the tripod so it can work at different heights.

Nice, but how about using one of those radio-controlled cars or truck ?

It would have to be very sturdy, I once stuck a miniature video camera on top of a cheap RC car and got motion sickness watching the first 30 seconds of it :(
