Skimmers in flight formation

Hi Gordon,

Yes moving twice a year is tough work, but somebody has to do it! :rolleyes:

I'm glad you have noticed the similar effect of the ground formation. Here are a couple of 2004 photos that show some of it, but not as clearly as you can notice looking down from above.
These guys were a bit bothered by us approaching them, but I think you can see how lined up they are:

I have probably 20 images of a fairly good sized group of Skimmers from that same day and the patterns are pretty consistent. Even small groups seem lined up:

Hi Gordon -

Too bad you couldn't be there to see it in person. Quite a thrill. When they change direction, the flock goes from all white bellies to all black backs in a second. Really beautiful.
