Skipper butterfly

I've been doing more work with my D200, Tamron SP 90, tubes, SB-800 and pop-up diffuser. I got some good shots of a skipper butterfly today.

Shot in raw, with minor exposures and black levels adjustment in ACR, plus sharpening, cropping, and conversion to sRGB in Photoshop CS3. The (nearly) full frame image was also downsampled quite a bit.

Duncan, very nice..... I really need to get a set of tubes!

Beware. Tubes are REALLY hard to use, particularly for magnifications higher than 1:1. I'm struggling with them. I don't post the mounds of failures I shoot, only the occasional success.

The DOF is razor-thin, and the loss of light makes placing the plane of focus all the more difficult.
