Small softbox

  1. I just added a small Chimera softbox (Pro II xs, 16x22in) and its speedring for use with hotshoe flashes to my toolkit

First tests indicate I should use the 24mm zoom setting on my SB-800 to fully light the front, without dark edges or apparent hotspots. The 18mm setting (with diffuser folded down) makes it even a little better, at the expense of light output of course. These are without mounting the optional internal diffusor (which I will have to try next).

Do any of you use similar sized softboxes, and if so what zoom settings have you found to work best?

Does anyone successfully use even larger softboxes with an SB-800?
