Hi All, I shot this a few days ago and would like to know what kind of snake it is, it was pretty small maybe 10 to 12 inches long, thanks!

There are many difrent kinds of garder snakes. Most are small. Some den up in mass in the winter time. I have seen video with hundreds of snakes in one rocky area. I rate them as one of the smarter snakes that I have held in captivity for a time. Their bite is of no consern but they do have a musk gland that is. My sister was out on the farm today playing with a good sized one. She filled up two cards trying to get a sharp one with his brite red toung out. Not sure if she ever did.
