I replaced my broken D300 with a used D300...used it today for LAX. Outdoors, it's great, indoors I'll use my two D3s bodies.

I am coming into some money and will be getting a D800 and most likely a D700 to go with my D300 for events. I doubt I will ever sell my D300. It really is a great camera and the only reason I am getting the D800 is for my landscape work.

Hmmm thx Randy. I think i may sell my afs200/2 for the sigma. I use it mainly for ice hockey but i am needing zoom more and more as my kids are getting taller. New sigma looks good!

Good to know. I've been looking at new bodies. Sold my D90, kept the D300. I miss the D90 a lot but won't let go of the D300 if I replace the D90.

Yep, agreed here...went to d7100 and back to the d300. Nikon has really dropped the ball on dx offerings...which is sad. The only camera that track better than the d300 imo is the d4s....oh and you can buy 10-12 d300's for that price hahahahha

IMO the d3,d3s and d4 AFed noticeably better than the D300

Just think how much money Nikon have saved us by not upgrading the D300/s yet!!

I can never decide between taking my D300s or the D7100 to a game. The cropping ability of the 7100 is a big plus, but the D300s is nicer to use. Now I have the 120-300/f2.8 I'll be able to use the 300 more as I have more reach, but night games I'll still use the 7100 because of the better noise handling.

I take them both and make a game time decision which to use. The D7100's crop ability, iq and high iso can't be ignored, IMO anyway

I dusted off my D300 the other day and shot some running dogs, even though I forgot to switch the AF to C, it still got lots of keepers. BUT, I noticed that I needed to "enhance" the photos in PP, whereas there is little to zero PP needed with the D7100 the sensor is just that superior.
Now I'm seriously considering selling the D300 in anticipation of the D7200 or D9300.

my D300S has nearly 100000 and the shutter sticks up once in while, ben debating on D600, not really sure way to go, would really like the high iso for night shooting and star shooting but its not great for sport.

this is nikons fault they have nothing i want to buy

Randy ! Good to see you buddy. Mitch, Harry... you guys too. Its been awhile. I'm still blasting with my D300 but my shooting buddy, who uses his 300 as backup
loves his D3 & refuses to part with it.
H.S. sports btw. He's our local paper Editor. Our season just finished up this week as we head into summer.
I'll try to post 1 with this new style. I've been remiss for awhile!

IMO the d3,d3s and d4 AFed noticeably better than the D300

The D800 has better AF than the D300, too... And a deeper buffer!

And you still get somewhat higher pixel density with the D800, just not quite at D7100 levels.
