If you haven't already, you definitely need to check out the shots in the Merritt II forum. These aren't just for the folks that attended. We had a great time together, and got some wonderful shooting opportunities.

Here are some examples:

Roseate Spoonbills:

The lighting was very tough, but I love the way that their wings are absolutely translucent under the prevailing conditions. You can even see the bone structure. Really cool.

Great Egrets:

These guys just put on a flying exhibition. Again, very tough lighting. It was difficult to get the bird exposed properly against the bright, flat sky.

Wonderful shots, Frank! And I'll second your suggestion to check out the Merritt II forum -- I've looked through most of the posts there and regret not figuring out how to get there with the group!

Frank,

You may not have been pleased with the lighting conditions, but the images are very pleasing none the less. Very nice series!!

Cool shots Flew - the light coming through the wings gives them a really neat look.

Is it just me, or does the sky look pinkish on the spoonbill pics, and more white on the egret shots?
