Some P&S fun AKA Ray G

Discussion in 'Retouching and Post Processing' started by obeaman, Jul 13, 2008.

  1. I recently felt the need for a little retail therapy and decided to get a G9 to use when working/travelling. Not quite small enough to fit in a pocket but will go in the laptop bag easy without adding much weight. Anyway just messing around and also trying BW Styler - I think I like both the G9 and Styler. All Comments welcome - Brian

    Looks good to me

    So much easier than lugging a bag of lens around!!

    Images look to have plenty of detail and I like the b/w

    I hope that you have a lot of fun - am sure you will

    Best wishes

  6. re Questions about G9

    Many thanks for the feedback guys. Couple of you asked about how I like the G9, here goes;
    I like;
    3 inch LCD - clean and clear, beautiful
    Macro Mode
    Great images up to 200ASA
    Raw Mode
    Full Manual Control including Focus
    Custom Functions and ability to use the print button for something useful
    IS, seems very effective
    Solid Build
    Auto Mode is very accurate and useable
    Great, Great fun to use

    I don't like;
    Price - a little too much for the versatility
    Noisy images from 400ASA and up (I think unusable in most situations)
    The Grip - no grip in fact, not very comfortable (a wrist strap is needed)
    Optical viewfinder does not display any information

    Not a technical report but I hope it helps your decision making one way or the other.
