this is a bit late, but i haven't had much time to work on my photos. i pulled out my D2H for this event as the AF on the D200 hasn't been that accurate for parades.

    C&C always welcome

all images taken with the D2H + 70-200mm VR.

the city's mayor on a segway

participants of the anime costume contest that's held before the parade

    giant daruma

nisei week court from los angeles

    jumping band

not sure what he's supposed to be...

grand master seiichi tanaka and the sf taiko

the mikoshi that always closes the parade

    hi anthony-

the cherry blossom parade is always a great photo op. my usual location is now blocked by a bush, so i had to move to another spot.

    hi gale-

    thanks for looking

    hi daren-

i'd forgotten how nicely saturated are the images that come out of the D2H. out of all the nikon DSLR's that i've owned, the D2H produces the richest colors straight out of the camera.

thanks again to everyone for looking.

  6. Ricky, great series!
Very colorful and full of human interest too.

Ricky, great color and sharpness. I know what you mean by the saturated colors coming out of the D2H ... i have experienced the same thing too. Which lens did you use to shoot this series? Looks very very sharp and very well exposed.
  8. Very nice set Ricky. Lots of fun and beautiful colors.

    All excellent images!

I lived most of my life near the city and enjoyed the trip back 'home'.

    Thanks for sharing!
  12. Great series!! Love the colors. I've been contemplating a d2h as a backup to my d2hs... This is another thumbs up to justify that purchase.
  13. Your cherry blossom festival looks like more fun than the one in our nations capital. BUT, where are the cherry blossoms? Neat images.

thanks everyone for the compliments

    hi virginia-

i love photographing parades because of the participants. i'm not really good with people who pose, and at thease events i can catch them candidly.

    hi shekhar-

i used the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR. it's my primary lens when i do parades and street fairs. the 80-200mm f/2.8 that i used to have is almost as good, but without VR (a big help for my shaky hands!).

    hi seneca-

sorry to hear that your 70-200mm isn't working out for you. prior to getting this lens, my favorite was my 80-200mm. the mid-to-long tele range seems to suit my shooting style.

    thanks again,

  15. Ricky.......... just fantastic photography. Felt like I was there.............

thanks all for the kind words

    hi bill-

yup, this was from jtown. i've never attended the civic center side of the parade, thanks for the link to your photos.

    hi scott-

you should pay us a visit. the city's changed so much recently, with all the construction. i was driving up 280 yesterday, and was struck by how much the new rincon tower dominates the skyline.

    hi keith-

i'd love to play with a D2Hs to see how different it is from the D2H, especially the improvement in the higher ISO settings.

    hi gordon-

i forgot to take photos of the trees  too busy with the parade. DC has way more cherry blossoms than SF though.

thanks again to everyone for looking.
