South Fork Cottonwood Forest

About 20 or so miles from my home is the largest cottonwood forest in the U.S. I love to go there in the fall and enjoy the beautiful fall colors. The vegetation is very thick and wild. I thought the dense forest in this location was so pretty yesterday. You can certainly tell which direction the wind comes from.

Yes there is. Not a lot of other colors, though. A small amount of reds, but not in this shot.

My wife and I took the drive through Smugglers' Notch in Vermont a couple weeks ago. There was really only one color -- yellow with just a hint of yellow turning brown -- but it was everywhere. We both immediately decided that it was the prettiest drive we've ever taken in our 38 years of travel. My point is that a variety of colors isn't needed to be dropdead beautiful and your scene is a great example of that. See Photo #4 in the following thread for my favorite photo from Smugglers' Notch:

I can see why that photo is your favorite. It's beautiful. I missed that thread. I'm so glad you referenced it so I could see it. Greg and I have hopes to visit New England next fall after he retires. I agree, one color can be beautiful.
