MOVED THIS TO THE LENS LUST SECTION- MY APOLOGIES FOR POSTING HERE ORIGINALLY.
In three weeks my wife and I are headed for 10 days to the south of Ireland by car. Sights will be things like the Cliffs of Mohr, Dingle, Ring of Kerry, Kinsale, Kilkenny, Dublin, etc., with everything in between.
We are pretty active tourist, but have an intinerary that will allow us to linger in a few spots as we desire. This is not a photo trip, and my wife is not a photographer, but kindly indulges my photography and doesn't mind lingering at a location.
I was recently at the Grand Canyon and Acadia, and had no problem picking lenses. This trip will mostly be out of a car, with probably some light gear for walking around Dublin all day. I typically take a backpack, then transfer to a waistpack for the day, the gear depending on what is in store. I don't mind packing the backpack fairly heavy (travel with the 600mm in the US), but not overly so. Don't like being overloaded walking around, but I am a large person and can handle three lenses without much trouble.
Part of me says take the 17-35, 24-85 and 70-300, and a light, fast prime for evenings. I am an available light kind of guy, so the D700 will be going. I usually throw in the SB400. Except.......I am tempted to throw in the 14-24 for places like Mohr, Dingle and Kerry working out of the car where weight is not as much of a concern, and .......
Not having been to Ireland, any recommendations, thoughts, concerns would be appreciated.
