I've been following this thread, wondering whether I should join or not... Arguing for and against, thinking about lens choices...
I will. Go in between the two guys:
- 28/1.4 on the wider side, and
- 135/2.0 DC at the tele end.
They will be used on both cameras, I guess, but for a start, let's fix them this way round:
The tele, as seen by the wide
Nikon D3 - AF Nikkor 28mm 1:1.4D - f/1.8, 1/100, Auto-ISO 560
The wide, looked at via the tele
Sony A7 - AF DC-Nikkor 135mm 1:2.0D - f/2.8, 1/320, Auto-ISO 6400, DC to neutal=0
The 28mm is easier to focus via AF, via the D3, and the to go/walk around lens. Manually focusing the tele while having an exact preview (of the DC feature) and being able to zoom into the picture while taking it should work good on the Sony.
Most shots will be taken along this route:
as the Octoberfest was, some might remember.
I'm glad it's an 'easy going' photo meme. I'm not sure I will use these two lenses exclusively during the whole month, and I think posting 'only' 3 images a week comes in handy for me. As some might remember, we've got a little 'project' running here, the last weeks have been busy preparing the new arrival...
The room's about ready. Originally, they said June 20th to be the planned day of birth, but then, in my wife's family it's common to be born earlier, and... as our little baby girl still refuses to turn upside down, they might want to get her earlier...
So... don't be afraid if I stop posting for a few days in between. Everything will go fine (we hope). I might use a macro lens when away...
So long - let's get it started!
Fantastic! Great to have you aboard, Roland. And looking forward to another great scenic tour as well as some shots of the baby if and when. I'm not going to assign lenses to cameras, so you can switch if you desire. But it sounds like you've got a well thought out place to start. Welcome back!
